Wake Me Up When September Ends

Seriously, it has been a boring month. besides football and Alex's "incident" nothing much has been entertaining.
4-2 baby!
One year ago this month, American Idiot came out.

So this week would be homecoming week. I'd be going on a date, Alex would be confidently driving, Rob would be serenading my date with U2 songs, and everyone would be happy.

But as mentioned in a previous post, homecoming is in Oct. So...What the heck is going on this month? I have no idea.

I was thinking that, once upon a time, a good Friday night for me would be at Rob's (or once at Alex's), playing some four-way Gamecube. Smash Bros., Mario Kart, Spider-Man 2, we had it all!

Then, one day something tragic happened. I remember it clearly. Rob, Andy, Myself, and little Luke (Levi), had just beaten Mario Kart. All the way thru, nothing left to earn. No more secret Karts or Levels to earn. No race left to be raced. No shell left unthrown. No bannana peel left undropped. We dropped the controlers, and stared at what we had accomplished. What now?, we all thought.

"Don't worry, we just have to find something else to play," someone said, though not very confidently.

We all nodded in agreement. But deep down inside, we knew that it was over. We had unofficially "grown up". Video games no longer seemed liked the greatest thing since sliced bread. I haven't even played a round of Smash Bros., since before the Mags left. And from that point on, I cannot remember a single weekend that I have spent that has been dominated by a game system. In fact, having gone to two parties in a row at Gretchen's house, I feel like a real high schooler now. Hanging out with guys and playing some Mario is one thing, but sitting next to a girl on a couch and having a conversation with her? No, that is not a thing of a child. It's over. How fast childhood passes...

Of course, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess comes out next year, so we'll see if that can't send me hurtling back to my old ways. I can only hope...

2-2 now.

This week, it's at Orem for their homecoming. It's gonna be big!

Our homecoming was initially supposed to be in two weeks against Lehi, but because my coach is nuts, he changed it to Timpview towards the end of October. So, we get to get our butts wupped for homecoming (again), and Alex gets to go on two dates in one month. It's a win-win situation!
